Hairspray

We saw our last show of the season Friday at The Muny.  It was Hairspray and we both loved it.  Believe it or not, we had never seen it before, either on stage or the movie version.  We knew nothing of the storyline other than the mother is played by a man.  Anyway, it was really great and luckily the weather wasn't bad.  It was pretty hot, although not unbearable, so we decided to eat dinner at Bottleworks instead of picnicing in the park.  I tried their new Hot Liquor Lager.  It's fairly hoppy, which I Iove, but it's not overpowering.   

OK, so here's my ranking of the 2009 Muny shows, most favorite to least favorite:

1. 42nd Street
2. Hairspray
3. Godspell
4. Music Man
5. Meet Me In St. Louis
6. Annie
7. Camelot

Two weeks ago, we were able to vote on shows for the next season.  I chose:

1. Cinderella
2. Evita
3. Jesus Christ Superstar
4. Singing in the Rain
5. Unsinkable Molly Brown
6. Student Prince
7. Sunset Boulevard

The first 5 made it onto the final ballot so I again voted for those five plus the following two:

1. Showboat
2. 1776

Two weeks ago, Bill voted for:

1. A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum
2. Cinderella (I had to twist his arm on this one...hee hee hee)
3. Evita
4. How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying
5. Porgy & Bess
6. Student Prince
7. Sunset Boulevard

The first 3 made it onto the final ballot so he then voted for those three plus the following four:

1. Cabaret
2. Jesus Christ Superstar
3. Paint Your Wagon
4. Unsinkable Molly Brown

It will be interesting to see which shows are actually chosen next year.  It was a great 91st season and I'm already looking forward to next season.
