Lindsey Buckingham

We saw Lindsey Buckingham at The Pageant last night.  It was a great concert.  Lindsey sang 6 songs from his new CD entitled Gift of Screws as well as old favorites such as Go Your Own Way, Trouble, Go Insane, I'm So Afraid, Tusk, World Turning and Second Hand News.  The Pageant is a small venue on Delmar in the University City Loop.  It's the perfect place for a concert since the view is great from any seat.  We saw him at the Pageant last year during his Under The Skin tour.  You can read my post about that concert by clicking here.  

We ate at Bottleworks before the concert...pistachio ravioli with sun-dried tomatoes, kalmata olives and goat cheese with a smoke gouda cream sauce paired with a pumpkin ale.  Yummo!  Once the sale of Anheuser Busch becomes official, Schlafly will be the largest St. Louis based brewer.  I'm sure that never in a million years did they ever think that they would have that distinction.

Between baseball, concerts and politics, I haven't posted many cards lately.  Be sure to check back tomorrow for one of my latest creations.

Maroon 5

We saw Maroon 5 and Counting Crows at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater last night.  Augustana was the opening group.  All three groups were great.  The only disappointment was that Counting Crows didn't sing what I call The Parking Lot Song.  It's actually called Big Yellow Taxi and was orignally sung by Joni Mitchell.

We went to Ameristar Casino before the concert.  I lost $7 and Bill won $3.  Woohoo...we're big gamblers...hee hee hee.  After our gambling spree, we ate at the Amerisports Bar.

Our Last Game of 2008

We went to our last Cardinal game of the season last night.  The weather was perfect and the Cardinals won 7 to 6.  The Cards were actually leading 6 to 4 going into the 9th but the Reds got a two run home run to tie it up.  We then scored in the bottom of the ninth to win.

Even though the Cardinals didn't make it to the playoffs, it was a great season.  We saw some really great games, both at the stadium and on TV.  I hope they can make some changes during the off-season, particularly in the area of pitching.  If any of the Cardinal "powers that be" are reading this, please trade Izzy.  Please please please! 

Well, at least the Dodgers made it to the playoffs.  Go blue!

Continued Drama

I referred to Barack Hussein Obama as "Barry Soetoro" in a certain political forum.  Oh my gosh, you can't believe the drama that caused.  This is a name that he admits he used when he was younger so I fail to see what the problem is.  Anyway, Anonymous made a snide comment which isn't surprising since this is her usual tactic.  I'm still waiting for her to "address me publicly" on her non-existent blog...bwahahaha. 

Cards Are Out

It's very sad.  The Cardinals have been officially eliminated from the wild card race.  We're going to the game Friday night but even though their season is over, it will still be fun.  It's Red Schoendienst bobblehead night so I will be able to add him to my collection.  He can sit right next to Tony LaRussa bobblehead.

Oh well, there's always next year.

 

Fall is Here

Fall arrived at 10:44 am this morning.  I have a love-hate relationship with Fall.  I love the cooler temperatures and the beautiful Fall colors but I hate what comes after...winter!  I hate cold temperatures and I only like snow if it falls on the weekend and I don't have to drive in it.

 

I think this card has a Fall feel to it.  I really like the new Baja Breeze color and it coordinates really well with Soft Sky which is a retired color.  Soft Sky seems to be a lighter shade of Baja Breeze.

The drama over at the political board has calmed down somewhat.  Snow has melted and Anonymous is "trying" to behave.  We'll see how long that lasts.  I'll be sure to keep you updated.

Prominent Democrat Endorses McCain

Lynn Forester de Rothschild, a prominent democrat who is a member of the DNC platform committee and former Hillary supporter, has decided to endorse McCain / Palin.  She has stated that she doesn't trust Obama and feels that he is an elitist.  You can read several articles regarding this by clicking here and here.

When I mentioned this fact on a certain current events forum, Obama supporters were quick to dismiss her as being a sore loser.  Some even went so far as to say her reasons for supporting McCain weren't "good enough" and since people in the public eye have a lot of influence over voters, they should have to state their reasons for endorsing a candidate.  My reply, "I guess we should start asking all the celebrities who are supporting Obama for their reasons too."  Took the wind right out of their sails!  They couldn't even come up with a response.  Hee hee hee...

I've been wanting a teeny tiny heart tatoo on my ankle but I've changed my mind.  I want this instead:

We interupt our regularly scheduled programming...

to bring you my thoughts on the Cardinals.  Statistically, they are still in the race for the wild card and being a die-hard fan, I'm not giving up hope.  Here's a list of the current NL teams in the wild card race:

1. New York Mets
2. Milwaukee Brewers
3. Houston Astros
4. Florida Marlins
5. St. Louis Cardinals
6. Arizona Diamondbacks

OK, so we have 4 other teams that we would need to beat in order to make it to the playoffs.  Possible yes, probable no, especially considering that the Cards have lost the last 7 games.  But like I said, there's always hope.

Let's analyze the situation.  As much as I hate it, the Cubs will most likely win the Central division but, just like last  year, I predict they will crumble because the pressure to win will just be too great.  That being said, if by some chance the Cards don't win the wild card, I'm hoping that the Brewers do.  I absolutely hate the Mets because they're Pond Scum (you probably need to be a Cardinals fan to understand this reference) and the Astros because of the 1980 baseball season.  The Marlins and Diamondbacks are ok but I think that Milwaukee has a much better chance of beating the Cubs which is my ultimate goal.  I just can't see myself cheering for them in the World Series.  It would just pain me too much!  Hee hee hee...

No Snow

Snowdance appears to have melted.  Much to her dismay, she no longer rules the CE forum as more and more conservatives stand up to express their views.  Anonymous, on the other hand, seems to be watching every single word she says.  I can only assume that it's because the moderators told her to behave.  I'm still waiting for her to "address me publicly."  Hee hee hee...I'm sorry but that just cracks me up.

To be perfectly clear, I honestly enjoy discussing politics with those who do not share my views (ask Charlie and Susan), however, I will not waste my time with people who resort to hiding behind false identities and using foul language.  They have the right to use whatever words they want and I have the right to hit the delete button.    

Thanks to all of you who left kind words either here on my blog or via e-mail...waving to Cathy and Betty, both of whom are on the "other side of the fence" so to speak, but agree with my right to voice my opinion.  Also waving to Lisa (Hey Tinky).

Another Cage Rattled

Perhaps I should start a separate political blog.  I seem to be getting a lot of hits specifically tied to my Current Events post.  A few women seem to have their panties in a bunch because they can't control what I say here on my blog.  Hee hee hee...too funny! 

So, the latest event in this saga is that the individual who thought she was being sneaky by posting as "Anonymous" posted another comment admitting her true identity.  It's not like I needed her to confess since I already had her IP address and knew exactly who she was.  Anyway, in this second comment she threatened to address me "publicly" whatever that means.  Heck, she can't even stand behind her own words.  Does she really think I believe that she's going to have the guts to say anything in a public forum?  I deleted her latest comment because every other word was a four letter word and I couldn't even edit it enough to make it appropriate for posting.  Ha!  I've beat her at her own game and now she's so mad she could spit!        

Hey Anonymous, sounds like I'm rattling your cage.
